Antibiotic resistance is a huge threat to the human population. Seriously folks, bacteria have the ability to completely wipe us out. I know that sounds like the tagline for a dystopian science fiction book, one I wouldn’t mind writing. Unfortunately, the threat is all too real.
The biggest contributor, and therefore the best practice to STOP DOING, is giving antibiotics to animals raised for food. This is so true, and so obvious, that it’s unbelievable we we allow it to continue. Worse, we reward the people who do it when we buy their meat.
Which is why they don’t stop doing it.
I’m always amazed that so little is said about this. It’s a serious dilemma and yet the media sits on this news.
This is why I prefer to raise my own animals. At least I know I give them a kinder life and I know I’m getting cleaner food.
And it’s why I buy my meat from farmers like you. The sad part is, it might not make any difference. If/when bacteriaggedon gets started, you and I will be just as susceptible as everyone else.
