It’s a Book!

The day is really here. My book is Out There, alone in the world, waiting to be read by the masses.

Ahem.

Ladies and Gentlemen, I give you:

 *I’ll just be over here under this rock, if you need me.*

 Seriously though, this book has been four years in the making, from the first idea of, “I’ve got to write a book about this man!” to the moment we have just reached. In the days to come, I will be posting interviews and character studies at various blogs around the web. I’m excited to have the chance to tell you more about the book, the concept, and especially, the man: Thomas Andrews of Dunallon, builder of the Titanic.

Thomas Andrews (February 7, 1873 – April 15, 1912) was talented, aristocratic, generous, and kind. He loved life. He loved his family. He loved to build ships, and he stood behind each one he built, with pride and integrity. In the end, this is what killed him. He was on board Titanic in his role as builder, to assist the crew as they learned their way around their new vessel, and to make sure she was in top condition for her future years of service with the White Star Line.

He built her with care, for a full life. She did not get that life.

Neither did he.

TTJ: Shipbuilder is a eulogy that I offer with fondness and humility. I can’t really bring Thomas Andrews back from the dead. I can only provide this meager attempt to give him a second chance, in an alternate history.
